The FM Project

Fuzzy apple, originally uploaded by kevinbhookun.

While looking through all my camera shelves last night, I decided to work on a new project. The name of this post is a bit cryptic but let me explain. My very first camera was the original Nikon FM. I still have it to this day. It is still in working condition, although there is a dent on the prism, that doesn’t seem to affect anything else. This camera is a beast in the field, It fell, got kicked, went to the amazon with me in 1998, and still lives to this day. And I am about to put it to the task again.

Project FM is a personal endeavour of mine, purely in the name of traditonal photography. Even if I actively use DSLR’s, I truly miss the click n’ crank of the FM, manual film advance, shutter vibration and the mechanical noise and spring loaded mirrors.

The project:
Faces. My favorite subject.

The medium:
One roll of Fujichrome Sensia, one roll of Tri-X 400, yes I still have those in the freezer. That’s 72 images (give or take 1 or 2), color and black and white.

The output: Digital outputs and prints.

It starts this coming saturday, and I will try to have the results posted by next week.
